Arianna Huffington has recently been called the “Queen of New Media.” Huffington is the creator and the editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post and is also the author of 12 books. The Huffington Post is a blog for recent news, it is also one of the most widely read and linked blogs on the Internet. In 2006 Huffington made Times 100 most influential people list.
The Huffington Post is visited by an extreme number of 20 million viewers a month. Newspapers, however, are not a fan of Arianna Huffington. They blame her for the decline in newspapers today. She laughs at this accusation, saying that if The Huffington Post did not exist the popular newspapers today would still be having the same problems, and decline in followers.
Huffington did not always have it easy, she has constantly been accused of and called horrible things and people are always disagreeing with the different topics she writes about. Yet, she is looked highly upon in Washington and respected by her peers.
For this class I feel that Arianna Huffington is a great example of everything we are learning, especially since she has become famous via blogging. While we all may not always enjoy blogging she is a great person to look at how far it can get us if we really work at it. Maybe one day our blogs from this class will have 20 million viewers a month?
